About
Public facts about elections and political money.
What we do
- Show who is standing in each election, exactly as the electoral commission lists them.
- Show what parties and campaigns are documented to have spent, split by how each figure is known: a party's own accounts, INEC's monitoring, independent monitors or platform data.
- Link every number to the document it comes from, with the page, the exact words, an archive copy and a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the file.
We start with Nigeria. Other African countries are planned; none are covered yet.
What we do not do
- We do not support or oppose any party or candidate, rank politicians, score them or predict who will win.
- We do not treat an allegation as a fact, a pledge as a payment, or a link between people and companies as evidence of wrongdoing.
- We do not add up figures that measure different things.
The same rules apply to every party and candidate. See the methodology for the details.
How we work
Records are collected from official and published sources, preserved, and checked by a person before they appear on the site. INEC's 2027 pages are checked every day for changes. When sources disagree, we show both. When we have not found something, we say what we searched and when, because “not found” is not the same as “does not exist”.
Team and funding
We will list the people responsible for editorial decisions, and every organisation that funds OpenPolls Africa, on this page. Funders have no say over what we publish. Until the list is published, you can ask us directly.
Corrections and contact
If something is wrong, tell us with a link to the document that shows it: hello@openpolls.africa. Corrections are logged with the record and earlier values are kept, so changes are never silent. Candidates, parties and campaigns are welcome to write to us in the same way.
Our data is free to reuse under the terms on the terms page. Read how we handle personal data in the privacy notice.
